Felicity and Colonial America: Life on the Edge of Revolution
Felicity and Colonial America: Life on the Edge of Revolution is the second unit in my History Through Story: An American Girl–Inspired History Curriculum.
History Through Story teaches American history through the lens of the American Girl historical fiction series. In this six-week unit, you’ll step into colonial Virginia alongside Felicity, exploring daily life in Williamsburg, the roles of women and children, colonial law, and the major events of the American Revolution—from the Boston Tea Party and the midnight ride to the battles of Saratoga and Yorktown, and the Treaty of Paris. The learning is grounded in story and supported by nonfiction, videos, writing, vocabulary, mapwork, and hands-on projects.
The guide includes lesson plans, discussion questions, vocabulary activities, writing prompts based on The Writing Revolution, maps, timelines, crafts, recipes, and historical extensions. All of the materials are research-based and designed with flexibility in mind. The student workbook makes it easy to implement, with optional activities that support different learning styles. You don’t have to do everything, just the parts that fit your family.
