Kaya and the Nez Perce: A Window into 18th Century Native America

$30.00

Kaya and the Nez Perce: A Window into 18th Century Native America is the first unit in my new History Through Story: An American Girl–Inspired History Curriculum.

History Through Story teaches American history through the lens of the American Girl historical fiction series. In this six-week unit, you’ll dive into 18th-century Native America alongside Kaya, exploring the Nez Perce people's history, land, traditions, and resilience. The learning is grounded in story and supported by nonfiction, videos, writing, vocabulary, mapwork, and hands-on projects.

The guide includes lesson plans, discussion questions, vocabulary activities, writing prompts based on The Writing Revolution, maps, timelines, crafts, recipes, and cultural extensions—all research-based and designed with flexibility in mind. The student workbook makes it easy to implement, with optional activities supporting various learning styles. You don’t need to do it all—just the parts that work for your family.
