Social Studies & History

DIY

We have taken a mostly DIY approach to history and social studies the past few years (kiddos are 6.5, 4.5, and 1.5). I have pulled age-appropriate topics into our reading, morning time/basket, and unit studies. So much of social studies in the early years is learning about your place in the world. This approach of focusing on self/family/community first, helps children build a foundation to learn about how they interact with their community and the world and learn about others (culturally, historically. etc.). History Quest

History Quest is a secular, storytelling approach to teaching history full of quality books, activities, and more. We haven’t jumped full into history yet, but have enjoyed listening to the Early Times audiobook. We will likely pull History Quest into our history rotation in the future.
