Simplify Writing

Simplify Writing (SW) is an evidence-based, structured writing curriculum for students writing at a kindergarten-8th-grade level. While this program is relatively new, I highly recommend it to homeschool families. This program provides free training for homeschool families, short videos modeling the mini-lessons you and/or your student can watch, and embedded grammar instruction. When you purchase any level of Simplify Writing, you also get access to their evidence-based spelling program, handwriting instruction tools, and additional daily grammar practice. Simplify Writing is usually $79, but you can grab it here for $49.

Who This Program is For:

  • This program is a good fit for families seeking an evidence-based open-and-go program.

  • Homeschool parents who want support and examples for how to teach the lessons, and student writing examples.

  • If you like the ideas behind the Writing Revolution but struggle to implement them in your homeschool because of the lack of pacing and daily lesson plans.

  • SW is also a great option for additional spelling or handwriting support.

Who This Program is Not For

  • If you already use a complete writing program like IEW, I do not recommend adding SW as a supplement.

  • Some homeschool families prefer writing programs that can be completely embedded in their content-area writing. Simplify Writing is not a great fit for those families, as they are centered around the program’s mentor texts.
